MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Police have made an arrest after sorting through the details surrounding the 'lover's quarrel' that landed one Myrtle Beach man in the hospital.
Horry County Police were dispatched to a home on the 700 block of Reef Road in Myrtle Beach Monday night, where a woman reported her husband had sliced his own throat, but he had fled from the home before they arrived.
In the incident report from Horry County Police, the wife told officers that she and her husband of 39 years were arguing and had been drinking.
After the fight, the husband retreated to a neighbor's home, where police found him with lots of blood on his shirt and a towel he had been holding against his neck.
The husband claims his wife was throwing knives at him, and when he turned around she slit his throat.
The wife claimed that during the argument her husband walked into the kitchen and grabbed a knife, yelling at her. She says he then dropped the knife, picked up another and cut himself.
The husband was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
After processing the scene, the wife, 58-year-old Gayla Lynn Reneau, was taken into custody and transported to J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
According to booking records, Reneau has been charged with attempted murder. Her bond has not been set.
