Victim of Surfside multi-vehicle accident identified

SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WMBF) The person killed in a multi-vehicle accident late Saturday night has been identified.

Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins, spokesman for the South Carolina Highway Patrol, said the accident occurred just after 10 p.m. on US-17 Business, slightly north of Ocean Lakes Campground and SC-544.

Collins says a 2011 Toyota van, driven by Patricia Wedge of Illinois, was attempting to cross US-17 Business when it collided with two motorcycles traveling northbound.

According to Tamara Willard with the Horry County Coroner's Office, the victim was 57-year-old Logan Trevino of Myrtle Beach. He died at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center just before 1 a.m. Sunday from multiple trauma.

A second biker was airlifted to the Augusta Burn Center to receive treatment, according to Horry County Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Justin Gibbins, after a fire started on scene. No word has been received on that person's condition.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol's MAIT Team continues to investigate the accident. No charges have been filed, according to Collins.

Investigators say Trevino and the second biker involved in the accident were not wearing helmets.
