MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) – A task force in the Attorney General's office aimed to prevent the solicitation of minors over the internet has made another arrest.
Attorney General Alan Wilson says the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office made the arrest as part of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
The suspect, 23-year-old Michael John Bourque of Murrells Inlet, is believed to have used an internet website ad to solicit sex from someone he believed was a minor, engaging in conversations that were sexual in nature.
Warrants show that Bourque traveled to meet the 'minor' individual. He was taken into custody and charged with criminal solicitation of a minor and attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
If convicted, Bourque could spend up to twenty years in prison. He was released from the Georgetown County Detention Center on a $30,000 surety bond.
