MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Police in Myrtle Beach are investigating after one woman stepped outside her home Wednesday morning to find her vehicle on fire.
The incident report from Myrtle Beach Police says they arrived at the home on 37th Avenue North around 1:30 a.m., shortly after the fire department arrived to douse the flames.
A witness claims he saw a female standing beside the vehicle with what appeared to be lighter fluid. The female then reportedly set the car ablaze, and ran away from the scene after the witness yelled at her.
The witness says he knocked on the victim's door to alert her. That's when the victim called police.
The victim told police the tires on her mother's car had been slashed a few days ago, and that she recently quit her job, causing her former employer to become very upset and threaten her.
The witness described the suspect as a black female, standing between 5'5" and 5'8" tall. The suspect is believed to have been wearing a white T-shirt and grey sweat pants at the time of crime.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact Myrtle Beach Police as soon as possible.
