USBA hosts shoe drive in North Myrtle Beach

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Do you have shoes that you're tired of wearing? Why not donate them for a good cause and treat yourself to a new pair.

The North Strand Helping Hand, a United Way of Horry County agency, will oversee the distribution of the shoes to members of the community who are in need.

"This is perfect timing as families prepare for back-to-school and fall sports," said NSHH Director, Margaret Owens.

The shoes will be distributed at the little gym at North Myrtle Beach High School on Wednesday, July 11 and Wednesday, July 18 from 10:00 a.m. until 12 p.m.

Individuals and families in need of used shoes must reside in Longs, Loris, Little River, and North Myrtle Beach. Residents must bring a picture ID, proof of residency and social security cards for members of the household in order to receive shoes, said Owens.

The program was initiated by the United States Basketball Association (USBA) to give back to the North Myrtle Beach community for their warm hospitality extended during the three-week long event, according to Owens.

NSHH is a United Way agency and is funded by 10 North Strand area churches. For more information about NSHH or this event, please call 843-399-0862.
