WFFD: Family dog rescued from home fire

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - A family's dog was rescued from a reported home fire after a quick response from the West Florence Fire Department Tuesday morning.

Captain Anthony Fox, spokesman for the West Florence Fire Department, says the source of the fire was discovered in a second floor closet in the home on 939 Leyland Drive where the fire was reported.

Smoke was showing from the outside of the house when crews arrived, but crews were able to control the fire after only seven minutes. Fox says the family's dog was found in a closet near where the fire was found, and was not injured.

Crews are currently on the scene investigating the cause of the fire with the assistance of the Florence County Sheriff's Office Arson Unit.
