Florence County opens shelter for residents without power

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) The Florence County Emergency Management Department announced Monday that they will open an emergency shelter for those without power.

Florence County EMD joined forces with the American Red Cross to open the shelter at Wilson High School located at 1411 Old Marion Highway due to the high heat index and a large number of residents who are without power from the storms this past weekend.

The shelter is staffed by American Red Cross volunteers and will be open by 8:00 PM Monday. Residents who are without electrical power are encouraged to seek refuge from the heat at these shelters.
