Artfields brings unique contest to Pee Dee

LAKE CITY, SC (WMBF) - There's an exciting endeavor Lake City is the launching called Artfields. It's a regional art competition that has $100,000 on the line for the winner.

Organizers hope Artfields will bring in hundreds of artists all vying for the $100,000 in cash prizes and thousands of visitors checking out their work.

This unique artistic event is actually mirrored after a Michigan based art contest that's been a huge economic engine for the city of Grand Rapids since 2008. Those behind Artfields believe this event will not only engage the community but expose folks from all over the Southeast to a place they've probably never heard of before.

"We're so proud of Lake City, but then we can also show to others what we're all about," says Director Karen Fowler.

Mark you calendars for music, food, art and fun from April 19-28th, 2013 in Lake city. If you are interested in learning more or how and when you can sign up for the Artfields contest, go to their website:
