Woman killed in Longs car crash

LONGS, SC (WMBF) A 25-year-old woman was killed in a fatal car crash in Longs Thursday evening.

Lance Corporal Bob Baras with the South Carolina Highway Patrol says the crash happened just after 5 p.m. on East Highway 9, in front of Aberdeen Country Club in Longs.

Bob Baras says a 1994 Thunderbird was driving west, crossing over SC Highway 9 when it was struck on the left side by a 2013 Ford Explorer traveling on SC 9.

The driver and passenger of the Explorer were both wearing their seatbelts. The driver was transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center and the passenger was unharmed, Baras said.

The driver of the Thunderbird was wearing a seatbelt and was killed in the crash. Two of the passengers of that vehicle were transported by ambulance to Grand Strand Regional and another was flown to MUSC.

Two of the car's passengers were children.

Horry County Coroner Robert Edge confirms the driver of the Thunderbird, Nicole McMurray, died at the hospital at 5:55 p.m.

South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash, but Lance Corporal Sonny Collins says no charges will have been filed.
