NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) Good things are happening in North Myrtle Beach with plans for a new sports complex focused on the growing sports tourism market. And now the people in North Myrtle Beach could see another facility opening up to enhance that development.
Consider This: Some residents were upset about the millage increase to purchase the land and build the sports complex, but that investment will more than pay for itself when teams begin to fill hotels, eat in restaurants and spend their money in the city. And that planned boost in visitors is already leading to additional amenities for North Myrtle Beach residents who could be splashing around in a new water park come 2014.
Although the Grand Strand market already has two water parks, they are showing their age and it's a hike to get to those properties from North Myrtle Beach. Research shows that a park on the north strand will be a popular, profitable addition to the community. North Myrtle Beach City Council should move forward with this plan.
