Police: Man burglarized hotel room while victims were asleep

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) The Myrtle Beach Police Department is investigating a burglary that happened in a hotel room early Wednesday morning.

The incident happened on 700 block of South Ocean Boulevard on Wednesday around 1 a.m. The alleged suspect broke into the hotel room and stole dozens of credit cards and cash while the victims were asleep.

According to MB police report, the victims realized someone had burglarized their hotel room when they woke up in the morning around 7:00 a.m.

According to the police report, the victims told police their clothes, credit cards and cash were stolen from their room. They advised officials that their room door was locked but they left the sliding glass door that leads to the balcony open about 1 foot wide, said the report.

The hotel manager was called to the scene and provided a copy of the room key to police that indicated the door was secured the whole time. Police later looked over the balcony and found foot prints on the railing on the balcony, according to the report.

One of the victims was advised by her bank that the suspect used one of her cards at an AT&T store for $100.75, according to police. The suspect also attempted to get money from an ATM but the bank could not provide the location of the transaction, said the report.
