Fire call leads police to homicide discovery

GREENVILLE, SC (WMBF/AP) A fire call turned into a homicide discovery at a home in Greenville early Monday morning. Police have arrested and charged a man with the murder.

Officials say the body of the victim was found in the ruins of a burning home in Greenville, the AP reported.

The fire was reported a little after 12 a.m. Monday when firefighters responded to an arson which lead to a homicide discovery a few hours later, said the AP.

A neighbor told police he heard gunshots and ran to his window when he saw the home in flames and called 911, the AP reported.

Police have arrested Gregory McCarson, 48, Monday around 10 a.m. after he crashed the victim's car and tried to run away. According to the investigators the suspect and the victim argued before the shots were fired.

McCarson is being held at Greenville County Detention Center without bail. WMBF is working with officials in getting a picture of the suspect. We will bring it to you as soon as if becomes available.
