David Bennett's next job could keep him in the Grand Strand.

After finalizing a contract buyout in April, the former head coach of Coastal Carolina football is being targeted by Socastee High School, emerging as a candidate for the school's athletic director position.

On Sunday night, Bennett told WMBF News that he has met with principal Dr. Paul Browning and was pleased with the meeting. There are no concrete details at this time, but he knows there is a mutual interest in this position.

David Bennett could soon have a new full-time employer.

Known for his distinctive drawl and deep commitment to Christianity, the former Coastal Carolina football coach appears like he's headed to Socastee - Socastee High School, that is.

Joe DeFeo, vice-chairman of the Horry County School Board, confirmed Sunday that the school district is interested in hiring Bennett as the new Socastee High School athletic director.
