MBPD: Stabbing suspect fled on back of moving vehicle

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) Myrtle Beach police have arrested a suspect in connection to a stabbing that happened early Saturday morning inside a Myrtle Beach night club.

Police responded to a call Saturday morning around 1 a.m. in reference to a stabbing at Jetage Cafe located at 1401 Mr. Joe White Avenue. Officials say one man was sent to the hospital for treatment but the victim's injuries are not life-threatening.

The suspect Ralph Phillip Johnson, 48, of Myrtle Beach was arrested and charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to MBPD.

According to Myrtle Beach police report, the victim told police that the suspect and a bar patron got into an argument which led into a fight earlier in the evening. Witnesses say when the suspect lost the fight he got embarrassed and left the bar.

Later that evening the suspect returned and approached the victim and reportedly started arguing with him about incident that happened earlier. The victim told police shortly after the offender arrived back to the club the suspect punched the victim in the face. During the course of the altercation the victim was stabbed several times in the abdomen area and left arm, according to police report.

According to police, after the victim realized he was stabbed, he grabbed a pool cue stick and chased the offender outside but the suspect jumped on the trunk of a moving vehicle and fled on Mr. Joe White Avenue towards Oak Street. Shortly after the suspect fled he was stopped and arrested by police who happened to be at the intersection of Oak Street and Mr. Joe White.

According to his booking information from the Myrtle Beach police, no bond has been set for Johnson.
