Robeson Co. SO investigates Pembroke homicide

ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WMBF) The Robeson County Sheriff's Office is investigating after an elderly Pembroke man was found dead near his home Friday.

Captain Anthony Thompson, spokesman for the Robeson County Sheriff's Office, tells WMBF News that 71-year-old Bernell Jap Locklear was found dead near his home on the 2300 block of St. Anna Road in Pembroke Friday.

Pending an autopsy, the cause of death is unclear, but the case is being investigated as a homicide, Thompson said.

Captain Thompson says the sheriff's office has identified a person of interest in their investigation but has not yet released that information.
