BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) The Marlboro County Sheriff's Office has located a man that escaped police custody on Monday, and he is now back behind bars.
The sheriff's office in Marlboro County were searching for 31-year-old Brandon L. Alford overnight after he escaped police custody Monday at 2:00 p.m. while working at the Marlboro County Administration Building doing landscaping work.
Tuesday afternoon, the sheriff's office announced that Alford turned himself in to authorities and was transported back to jail.
Marlboro County Sheriff Fred Knight said, "I am pleased to report
that Mr. Alford turned himself in today to Inv. James Campbell at the MCSO and
has been booked into the MCDC for Escape. I am thankful for all the
assistance we received from his family, the public and the other agencies
involved."
Alford left his assignment Monday after he told his supervisor he needed to use the restroom, according to Knight, and was then seen by another person walking back into the city of Bennettsville.
Alford was serving a six month sentence for failure to pay child support. Police have not yet commented on when Alford will be sentenced on his escape charge.
