MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) The Myrtle Beach hotel owners and tourism promoters are concerned about the new hurricane evacuations plans along the Grand Strand.
What concerns the business owners is the new system takes into account storm intensity and surge.
That system creates new areas that were not previously part of hurricane evacuation plans.
The previous system worked well, said Oceana Resorts owner Frans Mustert. The new plan could devastate tourism, said Mustert.
Grand Strand hotels lost $30 million in August 2004 because of the mandatory evacuation for Hurricane Charley.
