Report: Young woman assaulted over car keys

MYRTLE BEACH, SC(WMBF) A young woman is recovering after police say her boyfriend assaulted her for not letting him drive her car.

The incident report WMBF News obtained from Myrtle Beach Police says the reported assault occurred around 9 p.m. Thursday at the LaQuinta Inn on North Kings Highway.

The victim was reportedly arguing with her boyfriend because he wanted to take her car to hang out with his friends, but he does not possess a valid driver's license.

The victim claimed she was worried that if he drove the car, he would be stopped by the police, and she expressed those concerns to her boyfriend.

The report says the boyfriend became very angry and began punching and choking the victim, even hitting her in the chest.

A witness told police she observed the suspect assaulting the victim and tried to intervene, telling the suspect she was going to call the police. That's when the suspect reportedly used a hot flat iron to burn the witness in the arm pit area.

The suspect, described as a 21-year-old white male standing 5 feet, 4 inches tall, fled the area after both victims made an attempt to fight him off. When police arrived they observed swelling, scratches and burns on both victims.

Police have issued warrants for the suspect's arrest for criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of this suspect should contact Myrtle Beach Police.
