Socastee's Cann highlights Coker basketball recruiting class

HARTSVILLE, SC – June 13, 2012 – Coker College men's basketball coach Dan Schmotzer announced today the addition of six players for the 2012-13 season.

Callum Jenkins, Taylor Walker, Domingo Jean, Donovan Cann, Larry Felder and James Brown Jr. have each agreed to play for the Cobras.

"I'm looking forward to this group joining our team," Schmotzer said. "We've really worked hard to find highly talented players that are also high character individuals, and I believe we have done that for this incoming class. It's going to be exciting to combine these new guys with our returning players."

Jenkins is a 6-foot-8-inch forward from Gorokan, New South Wales. He is transferring from Garrett College in Maryland where he averaged 12 points, eight rebounds and two assists per game and was an all-region team selection. Jenkins is now the third player from Australia on the Cobras, joining Bryce Arnott and Andrew Morris. Callum is the son of Heather and David Jenkins.

Walker, a 6-foot-4-inch guard, comes to Coker from Hidden Valley High School in Roanoke, Va. He was a two-sport athlete in basketball and golf. Walker was a member of a state runner-up team in basketball and the golf team that finished fifth in the state. Taylor is the son of Jim and Shelley Paschal.

Jean joins the Cobras after a basketball and track and field career at Travelers Rest High School in Easley, S.C. He is a 6-foot-4-inch forward. In basketball, he was a 2-AAA all-region selection in 2011 and 2012 and 2-AAA all-region selection in track and field. Domingo is the son of Jennifer Diehn and Domingo Jean.

Cann, who is 6-foot-1, hails from Myrtle Beach, S.C., where he was a three-sport athlete in basketball, track and football at Socastee High School. He was named the most outstanding player in basketball. Donovan is the son of Samuel and Shondalee Moody.

Felder, a 6-foot-2-inch guard/forward from Hopkins, S.C., joins the men's squad after a three-sport career in basketball, football and cross country at Lower Richland High School. Larry is the son of Larry Felder Sr. and Veronica and Alex Brailsford.

Brown, a 6-foot-1-inch point guard from Charleston, S.C., played at North Charleston High School. In the 2011-12 season, he was a member of the boys' state championship team, the upper and lower state championship and was an all-region selection. James is the son of James Brown Sr. and Bernadette Brown.
