Storm Team to educate on hurricane season at StormFest 2012

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) Meet the WMBF Storm Team Saturday morning as they educate StormFest visitors on hurricane season and how to prepare your home and family.

Horry County, Georgetown Emergency Management and the National Weather Service will host StormFest 2012 on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Inlet Square Mall in Murrells Inlet. The event is free and open to the public.

In addition to meeting members of the Storm Team, you can help support the American Red Cross as Books-A-Million will donate 10% of their non-member sales to the organization during StormFest. Also during the event, the American Red Cross will have their blood mobile onsite for those who wish to donate.

This family-fun event, sponsored by Frank Entertainment and Inlet Square Mall, will feature storm and safety related displays/booths to include local emergency management offices, Horry County IT/GIS, American Red Cross, Safe Kids, SC Insurance, SC Safe Homes, the National Guard and the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Storm Team will bring their five foot tornado machine and explain just how a tornado is formed and the impact it can have on an affected area.
