NMB officials release Memorial Day weekend crime stats

MYRTLE BEACH, (WMBF) The North Myrtle Beach Department of Public Safety was busy over the Memorial Day Weekend. The crime report numbers have been released.

Police saw an increase to their crime calls for the holiday weekend  but the overall numbers didn't reach the 2011 figures, according to Pat Dowling, spokesperson for the City of North Myrtle Beach.

This year there were 470 citations; 11 noise violations and 54 arrests, added Dowling. In comparison, in 2011 there were 557 citations; 35 noise violations and 70 arrests during the Memorial Day weekend.

The Myrtle Beach Police Department also released their Memorial Day crime numbers.
