Vision Airlines takes first flight out of MYR

Posted: Updated:

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Vision Airlines celebrated its inaugural flight out of Myrtle Beach International Airport Thursday.  About thirty people were on the first flight that traveled to Cincinnati. Cincinnati is one of the eight Midwest cities the airline will fly to from Myrtle Beach.

Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, Toledo, Springfield, IL, Nashville, TN, Louisville, KY and Indianapolis, IN are the eight cities the airline will service.

Flights cost as low as $218 for a round trip airfare, but that doesn't include baggage fees. The airline is running specials for select flight tickets as low as $29.

Although the inaugural flight wasn't full, Vision Airlines Representatives said their outlook for the summer is good.

"We've been pleased with the booking numbers, we got started a little late. We've been pleased with how they're going, they're going very well," Clay Meek, Director of Sales and Marketing for Vision Airlines said.

Airport Director Mike LaPier said the new addition to MYR is expected to boost the community's economy.

"We want visitors here, that's what we're all about. The more successful Vision Airlines is, the more successful our community and this airport are," LaPier said.

Vision Airlines caters to those traveling out of the city, but it has also proved beneficial to those flying out of Myrtle Beach.

"Vision Airlines seems to be pretty nice for a non-stop flight and it's very less expensive for me and my wife to go."

Meek said there are several advantages to flying with Vision Airlines.

"We're using the large 737 jet aircraft, and also that it's non-stop. All these flights are non-stop, direct service. So, they get on the plane in Myrtle Beach and they arrive in their city of destination. And they can enjoy a great trip at very very low fares," Meek said.
