TIMMONSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - Bill Tate is returning for a second stint as the head football coach at Timmonsville High School after his hire was approved by the Florence School Board on Wednesday.
Tate led Timmonsville to two state championships during his 35 years with the Whirlwinds until he was replaced in 2007.
The South Carolina Football Coaching Hall of Famer has won 297 games over the course of his career.
Tate will take over for a Timmonsville team that made it to the Lower State Finals last season.
The Whirlwinds also found a new boy's basketball coach on Wednesday, Gerald Wright will be taking over the Timmonsville hoops squad.
