CONWAY, SC (WMBF) Police in Conway have charged one suspect in connection with a shooting near the Crane Creek Apartments Friday.

Catina Hipp, spokeswoman for Conway Police Department, says 20-year-old Quentin Berrell Smith of Myrtle Beach was taken into custody on Saturday following a shooting at the Crane Creek Apartments on Grainger Road shortly after 1 p.m. Friday.

Responding officers found a victim in the breezeway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the lower leg. That victim was able to provide officers with a name and vehicle description of the alleged shooter, Hipp said.

The victim reportedly told police the shooting was an escalation of an argument that began at a convenience store. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Hipp added that officers discovered another bullet had entered the home of a mother and her two small children. None of the occupants of that apartment were harmed.

Smith was found at the corner of Leonard Avenue and Bayside Avenue around 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Smith appeared before a judge Sunday and received a $70,000 surety bond for attempted murder, discharging a firearm into a dwelling and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
