FOLLY BEACH, SC (WCSC) -

A Charleston County Detention Center officer was charged with DUI early Sunday after being caught driving the wrong way down a one-way street, Folly Beach officers say.

Folly Beach Department of Public Safety officers say they initiated a traffic stop on 29-year-old Alfred Joseph Asher around 2:45 a.m.  After the stop, Asher was charged with driving under the influence.

Major Jim Brady with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office said Asher has been placed on administrative leave without pay from the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center.

Brady said Asher was hired at the detention center in October 2006.
