FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) The Florence County Sheriff's
Office and agents with the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force have arrested a Coward
man wanted for a 2011 attempted murder charge.
Captain Michael Nunn, spokesman for the Florence County
Sheriff's Office, tells WMBF News that 31-year-old William Jamell Thomas of
Coward was arrested Thursday on attempted murder charges in connection to a
shooting that occurred on September 11, 2011.
Thomas is also charged for possession of a firearm by a
person convicted of a violent felony.
Nunn says the incident occurred on East Carolyn Avenue last
September, where Thomas is believed to have shot the victim twice following an
argument.
Authorities have been looking for Thomas since the incident,
but were able to locate him after receiving a confidential tip, Nunn said.
Nunn added that a magistrate judge denied bond for Thomas at
a bond hearing Friday, considering extensive criminal history and flight risk.
If convicted, Thomas could serve up to 30 years in prison for the attempted
murder charge, and an additional 10 years on the weapons charge.
