Woman escapes attempted abduction on Ocean Blvd

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) Myrtle Beach Police are searching for a man that attempted to abduct a woman he had been watching in a convenience store.

The incident report obtained from Myrtle Beach Police says a woman entered the Sea Mart Convenience Store on North Kings Highway Sunday evening, and minutes later exited the store in the direction of Withers Drive on 25th Avenue North.

When the female victim reached the intersection, she noticed a black male was following her in black in color Honda Accord.

The suspect, the report states, asked the victim why she looked so mad. The victim replied she was going to be meeting up with her husband as she tried to retrieve her cell phone from her purse.

At that point, the suspect exited his car, walked around to the passenger side and grabbed the victim by the arm, trying to force her into the passenger seat saying, "You're going with me."

The victim claims she shouted 'no,' punched the suspect and ran toward a crowd in a nearby parking lot. Two men on mopeds stop to assist the victim, who went directly to her sister's hotel room and called police.

Responding officers noted injury to the victim's hand, but the victim did not wish to receive medical treatment.

Officers met with employees at the convenience store and reviewed surveillance footage, which shows the suspect exiting the store as the victim walked in around 4:45 p.m. Sunday. The suspect is seen waiting by the door and watching the victim, and then following the suspect in his car until they exit the view of the security cameras.

In the report, store employees told police that the suspect was a local who came to the store often, adding that one of the clerks had a problem with the suspect following her and trying to enter her vehicle.

The suspect was described as black male in his early thirties, standing approximately five feet nine inches tall, and weighing 160 pounds.

Any information about this incident should be reported to Myrtle Beach Police as soon as possible.
