MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) One Ohio man is behind bars this weekend after an argument that quickly escalated in the parking lot of Broadway at the Beach Friday.

An incident report obtained from Myrtle Beach Police says officers were called to Celebrity Circle around 2:25 a.m. Friday following reports that shots had been fired.

Witnesses told police that responded that the victim had gotten into an argument with the suspect as they were walking back to their car from a bar.

The victim said the argument centered around the issue of non-payment for work he had done over the past few weeks, and it became very serious and "heated."

Witnesses say the suspect, 40-year-old Jamie D. Nemeth of Barberton, Ohio, fired off a shot into the air from his revolver and they hid behind the electrical boxes in the parking lot as Nemeth got into his vehicle and sped around at a high rate of speed.

One witness says Nemeth told the victim he had to find his own way home to Ohio before he fired the shot into the air.

The report states Nemeth was transported to a local hospital for complaints of back and neck pain after the incident.

Booking records at J. Reuben Long Detention Center show Nemeth was taken into custody Saturday morning at 2:28 a.m. Nemeth is charged with pointing and presenting a firearm at a person and discharging firearms into a dwelling.

Bond has been set at $5,469.
