DHEC puts top Myrtle Beach restaurants to the test

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) TGI Friday's along North Kings Highway has an 'A' rating, however, this wasn't the case Thursday morning. During a recent routine inspection, the restaurant scored an 82, a 'B' rating. The DHEC report shows the inspector found eight  violations, two of them were critical.

The inspector reportedly found mashed potatoes held below the required temperature by DHEC and found the sanitizing solution used to clean, was the wrong concentration. The DHEC report goes on to show the inspector asked workers to clean the floors, walls and ceilings and to repair the fridge door.

TGI Friday's manager declined to do an on camera interview, however did say a DHEC inspector returned sometime on Thursday. He says the restaurant scored a 100 on the follow-up inspection, an 'A' rating.

Further south along Kings Highway, a DHEC inspector dropped in a popular  Myrtle Beach burger joint. Cheeseburger in Paradise scored an 88 which is an 'A' rating and the DHEC report shows the inspector found seven  violations, one of them  critical.

DHEC reportedly found eggs and bacon kept above the required temperature and the inspector left behind a list of things to clean like the ice machine, warming drawers, and shelving. Cheeseburger in Paradise's manager also declined an on camera interview but says DHEC will be back for a follow inspection on Monday, and the restaurant will be ready.

Rainbow House is in Downtown Myrtle Beach, also on Kings Highway. According to the DHEC report, the bar and grill scored a 96 on its latest routine inspection, an 'A' rating.  The inspector cited Rainbow House with three violations and instructed the eatery to clean the ice machine and toaster, and to dust the decorations behind the bar.
