GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) A reported armed robbery at a Murrells Inlet convenience store has the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office reaching out to the public to identify a suspect.

Carrie Cuthbertson, spokesperson for the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office, says the Kangaroo Convenience Store at the intersection of Highway 707 and Highway 17 Bypass was robbed by a white male around 9:10 p.m. Tuesday night, who entered the store armed with a handgun demanding money from an employee.

The suspect fled through the front door and fled on foot with an unknown amount of money. The employee of the store was not injured, Cuthbertson said.

A Bloodhound Tracking Team from the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office searching Briggs Street off of Wilcox Avenue for the suspect, described as an older white male with a scruffy beard who was wearing a navy blue ski mask, long sleeve camouflage shirt, blue jeans and army boots.

Anyone that can identify the suspect or has any information about the robbery is asked to call the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office at 843-546-5102.
