Four arrested in drive-by shooting into Marion County home

MARION COUNTY, SC (WMBF) A shooting in mid-April turned deadly in Marion County after someone fired several shots into a residence off of Hwy 501, and four suspects have now been charged.

Marion County Sheriff Mark Richardson said the shooting occurred at a residence on North Hwy 501 around 1:30 a.m. morning on the morning of April 13.

Sheriff Richardson said deputies responded to a residence on N. Hwy 501 and found a 31-year-old male, identified as Christian Drawhorn, suffering from a gunshot wound. Drawhorn was transported to the Marion County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation determined four others were in the mobile home with Drawhorn at the time of the shooting.

On Monday, 20-year-old Blaton Wakeem Smith and 25-year-old Willie OBrian Bethea, both of Latta, were arrested and charged with murder, four counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during commission of a violent crime, and discharging firearm into dwelling.

Tuesday, 21-year-old Shaheed Hayes of Latta and 17-year-old Jamie Williams of Dillon were arrested. They face the same charges as Smith and Bethea.

Smith, Bethea, and Williams are currently in custody at the Marion County Detention Center.  Hayes is being held at the Dillon County Detention Center.

Sheriff Mark Richardson said he would like to thank Dillon County Sheriff Major Hulon, Latta Police Chief Crystal Moore and their departments for assisting the MArion County Sheriff's Office in the investigation.  South Carolina Law Enforcement Division also assisted with the case.
