FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) Two brothers were arrested and charged with attempted murder early Wednesday morning in connection with a shooting Tuesday night in the Clements Street Apartments in Florence.
Major Carlos Raines, spokesperson for the Florence Police Department, tells WMBF News that brothers 19-year-old Kendall Baccus and 22-year-old Nicholas Addison were at the Clements Street Apartments Tuesday night, visiting in the home of one of the brothers' girlfriend.
The girlfriend, Raines said, had mentioned that another man that lived in the apartments had been looking at her as if he was interested, which upset her boyfriend.
The two brothers decided to pay a visit to the man she had mentioned, and they knocked on his door and began arguing with him.
The girlfriend of the victim reported to police that she and the victim were asleep in their bedroom in the apartment complex when Baccus and Addison knocked on their door. When the victim answered the door, she said she heard arguing between the victim and two men. She claims hearing her boyfriend say, "I don't know what y'all are talking about. Y'all got me mixed up with someone else."
The victim's girlfriend says she then heard a loud pop, and asked if her boyfriend was ok. She called 911 when he told her he'd been shot.
Investigators say the victim had shut his screen door in an attempt to walk away from the argument when the bullet was fired, striking the victim in the upper left arm. The victim was treated and released from a local hospital, Raines said.
When police responded to the reported shooting at Clements Apartments, neighbors were initially hesitant to provide information about the incident, but later helped identify the shooters later located in two separate apartments within the complex.
Baccus and Addison were arrested and transported to the Florence County Detention Center around 2 a.m. Wednesday morning. Both are charged with attempted murder.
