MB Police investigating shooting in Racepath community

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) Myrtle Beach Police continue to investigate a late night shooting that left one man injured.

An incident report obtained form Myrtle Beach states that officers were responding the Racepath community to the reports that someone had been shot.

The male victim was found on Neighbor Lane suffering from a gun shot wound to the leg just before 9 p.m. Friday night, but claimed the incident occurred at the Carver Apartments on Spivey Avenue.

The victim claims he was in the parking lot of the Carver Apartments with friends when he heard what they thought was a firecracker. After hearing the sound, the victim said he felt a "burning sensation" on his left leg.

The report says the victim was transported to the home of a family member after the shooting.

EMS transported the victim to a local hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.

It is not known who the victim was with at the time of shooting. The report says the victim could not provide possible suspects or motive.
