MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) Myrtle Beach Police have made an arrest in a criminal sexual conduct case reported in September 2011.
An incident report obtained by WMBF News states that officers responded to the victim of a possible sexual assault that occurred in an apartment building on 66th Avenue North in Myrtle Beach during September 2011.
Following the incident, the victim reported immediately to the police department.
The victim reported that she and the suspect had fallen asleep on the beach and went back to an apartment after waking up around 2 a.m.
The report states the victim was preparing to go to sleep, but the suspect would not let her leave and forced her to have sex with him.
The suspect, 28-year-old Brandon Gregory Southerland, was arrested Monday. Booking records at J. Reuben Long Detention Center show Southerland has been charged with criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping and failure to appear. Southerland's bond has been set at $150,000.
