DILLON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) One week after the investigation began, the Dillon County Sheriff's Office has made two arrests in a murder case.

Captain Cliff Arnette, spokesperson for the Dillon County Sheriff's Office, tells WMBF News that 23-year-old Mathis McLaughlin of Dillon turned himself Tuesday morning for the slaying of Everardo Fuentes on March 26. McLaughlin is charged with murder, criminal conspiracy and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Arnette said that 28-year-old Fallon Altman of Dillon was arrested Monday in connection with this crime. Altman is charged with accessory after the fact.

McLaughlin and Altman knew the victim, but the relationship is not yet being released.

Arnette added that the sheriff's office has a warrant for an additional suspect, but the name of that suspect has not yet been released.

An autopsy was performed last Tuesday morning on the body of the homicide victim found behind a building in Dillon County March 26.

Arnette says investigators were called to an area behind Johnny's Lounge off of Highway 57 near Lockemy Road in Dillon around 4 p.m. Monday.

The victim has been identified as Everardo Fuentes. Arnette said that Fuentes had been shot, but could not confirm how many times.

Fuentes was found behind the building, and the Coroner reports the male was dead upon the arrival of authorities.

Investigators with the Dillon County Sheriff's Office and SLED are still actively investigating this homicide.
