HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) After personal information didn't quite add up on paperwork submitted by a Myrtle Beach woman in efforts to obtain her nursing license, the Horry County Police Department initiated an investigation.

Sgt. Robert Kegler says 37-year-old Candace Dawn Arbogast was working as a nurse at various doctors' offices in Horry County without nursing credentials. Arbogast regularly practiced duties of a certified nurse including administering shots.

The HCPD initiated an investigation after they were contacted by the South Carolina Nursing Board with concerns that dates of birth and other information were not adding up to what the Arbogast had provided when she obtained her nursing license.

Detectives learned through the investigation that in January of this year, the would-be nurse did obtain someone else's information from the West Virginia nursing website and used it to apply for a nurse's license in South Carolina.

The license was obtained with this false information and the suspect has been practicing as a nurse since that time.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant based on the results of the investigation.  On Friday Arbogast turned herself in to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center where she was formally charged with unlicensed practice as registered nurse or practical nurse.
