911 call leads police to shooting victim in Hartsville

HARTSVILLE, SC (WMBF)  A 911 call to dispatch to report gunshots heard on Home Avenue in Hartsville led to the discovery of a shooting victim Monday morning.

Donald Quist, spokesperson for the City of Hartsville, said that officers responded to the Pinebridge Apartments on Home Avenue around 2:38 a.m. Monday morning after receiving a 911 call. Residents in the area reported hearing multiple gunshots in the area.

Responding officers found one gunshot in victim on Society Avenue in Darlington County.

Witnesses at the apartment complex told the officers that 20-year old Antwuan Stevenson and two other friends were getting out of their vehicle at the apartment complex when someone shot at them. The witnesses reported that Stevenson got back in the driver's seat of his car and tried to drive away from the shooter by pulling into a driveway to hide.

The Darlington County Sheriff's Office and Hartsville Police found several bullet holes in their vehicle, and Stevenson was wounded on his left side, Quist said.

Stevenson was transported to Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

Quist added that authorities have not named any suspects at this time. Any information about this incident should be reported to the Hartsville Police Department at 843-383-3011.
