MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) Horry County Police have made an arrest in a shooting that took place in an apartment complex in Myrtle Beach late Monday night.

Sgt Robert Kegler, spokesperson for Horry County Police, tells WMBF News that police were called to Broadway Station Apartments on Hitchcock Way, near Robert Grissom Parkway shortly before midnight Monday. A security guard went to the door of an apartment to investigate a larceny complaint when a shot was fired through the door, Kegler said.

Witnesses described the violent incident to WMBF News on-scene just minutes after it all happened.

"The dude asked who is it. He just pulled out his gun I guess to the door and just shot at my brother from his friends for no reason. My brother got grazed {by a bullet} but he's okay though," said a witness.

Kegler said the security guard wasn't injured.

The SWAT Team and negotiators were called to the area. Police thought the suspect was in one building, but the suspect and another individual in the apartment with him at the time of the shooting escaped through the back door and hid in another building.

Kegler added that 30-year-old Eric Lavin McCrea was arrested in connection with this incident and transported to J. Reuben Long Detention Center. McCrea is charged with attempted murder and sale or delivery of pistol to, and possession by, certain persons unlawful.

Bond has not been set.
