HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) Horry County Police have charged a second person in connection with a fatal shooting that happened last month in Longs.

Officers with the HCPD responded to J.C. Lane in the Longs section of Horry County on Feb. 9, at approximately 3:50 p.m. When officers arrived, they discovered a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was transported to a local hospital by Horry County Fire Rescue; where he was pronounced dead.

Through the aid of a GPS bracelet, detectives were quickly able to identify Jamar Hashawn Wilson as being at the scene of the crime. Wilson was issued the GPS bracelet as condition of his bond stemming from an unrelated charge.

Detectives continued to investigate and learned of a possible suspect.  Detectives went to J. Reuben Long Detention Center to interview 17-year-old Thurston Jay Hardiman, of Longs.

Hardiman was incarcerated on charges unrelated to the shooting incident. Detectives say the teen provided false information when questioned and intentionally misled the investigation.  Hardiman was charged Wednesday with accessory after the fact of murder.

The homicide investigation remains active and additional arrests are possible.
