DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) A former Darlington County Sheriff's Deputy has been arrested after reportedly striking a man while on duty in March of last year.

According to an arrest warrant from South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, 30-year-old William Everette Tindal of Florence, SC was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with assault and misconduct in office while serving as a deputy for DCSO.

The arrest warrant states that Tindal, while on duty, was escorting the victim from one area of the Hartsville Police Department office to another around 8 p.m. March 9, 2011. The victim's hands were cuffed behind his back when Tindal reportedly began striking him on or near his head.
