LAMAR, SC (WMBF) Firefighters from three different departments continue to battle a commercial structure fire in Darlington County that began just before 4:30 a.m. Friday morning.
The blaze is happening in the City of Lamar in Darlington County.
Lamar City fire officials say the warehouse is on Railroad Avenue, and 30 to 40 firefighters from several units, including Darlington, Lamar and Hartsville, responded to the scene.
Hartsville Mayor Mel Pennington, also a volunteer firefighter, tells WMBF News that the burning warehouse is next door to a Lamar hardware store that is the subject of an arson investigation from last year.
Darlington County officials say the fire was contained by 7:45 a.m. and crews are currently waiting on SLED to show up to begin an investigation.
