MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) Child discipline has been in the news this week with the pistol wielding facebook dad and now the tragedy of a young girl who died after her grandmother forced her to run for hours because she ate a candy bar.
Consider This: Parents discipline their children differently. What you find unacceptable, spanking for example, might be considered very effective by another parent.
I get it, being a parent is tough. I struggle constantly in determining the right way to discipline my kids. But I know as a parent that it is my responsibility. Spend a few minutes around a child whose parents are unengaged and provide no discipline and you quickly understand why. What is unacceptable is when discipline becomes abuse.
This week we've seen what can happen when parents go too far. If you see abuse step up and report it immediately.
