NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) North Myrtle Beach Police have
arrested a man accused of threatening to strangle a woman if she wouldn't have
sex with him Friday night.
According to a police report obtained by WMBF News, officers
with the City of North Myrtle Beach Public Safety Department spoke with a
victim who said she has been assaulted by 21-year-old Shane Wesley Cook in the shower
of his home in the 1300 block of Waterway Drive.
The victim, who was an acquaintance of Cook's, told police
Cook entered the bathroom and tried to remove her bathing suit by force and
told her he would strangle her if she wouldn't have sex with him.
The report further stated Cook ripped the shower curtain rod
from the wall and held it to her throat, telling her she could leave if she wasn't
going to comply.
As she tried to leave, the victim said Cook continued to
threaten her and "aggressively approach her." She reportedly was able to leave
with the assistance of a friend of Cook's who had introduced the pair.
Cook was arrested and charged with assault and battery with
the intent to commit criminal sexual conduct. He was then transported to the J.
Reuben Long Detention Center and released three hours later on a $10,000 bond.
