MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) At approximately 9:30 p.m. Saturday night, Horry County Fire Rescue responded to a call at the Seafare Restaurant in the Restaurant Row District of Myrtle Beach.
Firefighters were fighting to put down the blaze while also combating steady 17mph winds with gusts reaching up to 29mph. HCFR reported flames reaching through the roof of the restaurant.
The presence of multiple first responders in the area caused traffic slow downs along Highway 17 for some time.
Fire crews on scene Sunday morning continue to extinguish hot spots from the blaze that sparked Saturday night.
An arson unit on scene told WMBF News they do not suspect foul play, and it's possible that new tenants moving in caused the fire accidentally.
The destructive fire comes less than one year after a large amount of cash was stolen from a safe inside the Seafare Restaurant. View this story to see raw surveillance tape from that robbery.
