WMBFNews.com, Myrtle Beach/Florence SC, WeatherForecast: Arctic blast arrives, Red Flag Fire Alert still in effect

WMBF STORM TEAM (WMBF) Windy and dry conditions prevailed Saturday afternoon.

The South Carolina Forestry Commission has placed our area under a Red Flag Fire Alert until further notice. This means that with the dry conditions and winds, outdoor burning is discouraged until conditions improve.

Much of the area remains in a severe to extreme drought and any fires could spread quickly and be difficult to contain.

The arctic blast arrives Saturday night. Skies will clear and temperatures will bottom out in the low 20's. With the wind, it will feel like it is in the teens. Sunny and breezy conditions continue on Sunday with highs in the low to mid 40s. Warmer air returns by the middle to end of next week.
