SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WMBF) An 18-wheeler took down a traffic light on Highway 17 Bypass causing traffic delays just south of Hwy 544 Friday morning.
According to Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins with South Carolina Highway Patrol, a tractor trailer was turning into a parking lot at Lowe's when the trailer hit the traffic pole supporting multiple stop lights and power lines.
Collins adds that northbound drivers were restricted to one lane in the Glenns Bay Rd. area for a little over two hours as utility crews worked to repair the downed lights.
Southbound traffic was unaffected even though those traffic lights were also torn down.
Collins says no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
