FLORENCE,
SC (WMBF) Police in Florence County arrested a Pee Dee man Tuesday after allegedly robbing a convenience
store at knife point.
Captain
Michael Nunn, spokesperson for the Florence County Sheriff's Office, told WMBF
News Florence County Investigators arrested 27-year-old Derrick Lee Malphus of Darlington Monday and charged him with Armed Robbery, Wile Armed
of Alleged Armed With a Deadly Weapon.
Investigators
said that Malphus robbed a convenience store on West Lucas Street in Florence.
Malphus presented a knife and demanded money for a store employee. When the
store clerk refused to give Malphus any money, he fled, but police apprehended him at a nearby motel, Nunn said.
Malphus
is in custody at the Florence County Detention Center awaiting a bond
hearing.
