Witnesses help DCSO locate accused armed robber

DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) A man accused of robbing a Darlington County gas station with a knife sits in jail Tuesday on armed robbery and weapons charges.

Capt. Andy Locklair with the Darlington County Sheriff's Office, told WMBF News a man entered the United Gas Station located in the 3500 block of Oates Highway armed with a knife around 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The suspect was able to flee the scene with an undisclosed amount of money from the store.

Witnesses then gave deputies a vehicle description and tag information, leading them to Benjamin Andrew Hill, 35, of Hartsville. Hill was arrested and charged with armed robbery as well as possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Bond has been set at $60,000 and Hill remains in jail, Locklair said.
