MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) On Super Bowl Sunday night, Myrtle Beach Police and most other law enforcement had regular staffing and normal patrols on the roads.
As anticipated there were a normal number of calls, even with all the Super Bowl celebrations.
"I enjoy going out and watching the Super Bowl as opposed to just sitting home watching TV," commented Charles Hanscome.
He and lots of others at Overtime Sports Café in North Myrtle Beach said there is no better way to see the game.
Alexandra Hanscome said she realizes the Super Bowl fun can sometimes get out of hand, though.
"I was a little hesitant about coming out with drinking and stuff like that going down," she said.
Officers were not particularly busy Sunday night though. In Myrtle Beach a call about public intoxication turned out to be more of a health issue. Minor issues were also reported in calls about loud parties or fights. As of 11:30 p.m. police reports showed only one DUI arrest right around kick-off time.
"I don't think it's good to drink and drive," Alexandra Hanscome said. "People need to be responsible, and I'm drinking Diet Coke."
