NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) The son of the victim identified in Saturday's homicide has been charged with murder.

Pat Dowling, spokesperson for the City of North Myrtle Beach, told WMBF News that a man in his late fifties was found dead by his brother in his Cherry Grove home Saturday morning with blood by his side.

After finding him, the victim's brother immediately left the room and contacted North Myrtle Beach Police. Police arrived on scene and determined the man was dead, and contacted an investigative division, Dowling said.

The brother told police that the victim shared his home with his son, who was not in the home at the time. The son's truck was not found at the home, but was later located by police in the Little River area.

Robert Edge, Horry County Coroner, has identified that victim has 59-year-old Eugene Permenter of North Myrtle Beach. An autopsy was performed Sunday morning. It was determined that the victim died from massive hemorrhage from a knife wound.

The victim's son, Lucas James Permenter, was located hours after his father was found dead and was taken to the North Myrtle Beach Public Safety Department. Permenter was then arrested and charged with his father's murder, Dowling said.

Permenter remains in custody at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Neighbors in the area said they are alarmed a homicide investigation was happening right outside their front doors.

Alice Brantley said, "The first time I've ever seen anything like this. Police, and all the officers, detectives have been out here all day long."

Those who knew the victim said they were very upset about the whole situation. Rebecca Dean said, "He was a good person. Never did anything wrong to us. We have had this house almost 30 years. He was a good person. He put in our driveway place in there so it wouldn't flood."

The North Myrtle Beach Department of Public Safety continue to investigate this incident.
